Technology supported rehabilitation for executive dysfunction.
Impairments in prospective memory and task management are common following frontal lobe damage. Models of frontal lobe based executive functions highlight their contribution to the planning, initiation, monitoring and regulation of actions required to complete activities effectively. Clinical guidelines recommend use of meta-cognitive training strategies to improve everyday executive function. This presentation will discuss the contribution that technology can make in combination with meta-cognitive training strategies such as Goal Management Training to support improved prospective remembering, initiation and task completion. I will also talk about our work on the development of ApplTree, a reminding app designed to support prospective remembering in people with cognitive impairment.
